Blogging is a useful social interactive tool for the school library media center. Librarians can use blogs to post reading lists, booktalks, book reviews and to discuss books from discussion groups. Students can comment on these blogs or post their own views about books.
Students can design their own blogs to discuss their opinions about books they read on their own, assignments or to create their own suggested reading lists. Blogging is a method of teaching children digital literacy. It enables them to develop reading and writing skills as well as providing them with the opportunities to access, process and evaluate information.
Too much of a good thing?

That is a great idea!!--using blogs to post book talks and discussion forums. Something I didn't think about. I agree that blogging is useful and especially, as you pointed out, to process & evaluate information.
ReplyDeleteI love your idea for using blogs as spaces to post book reviews and for students to use them to discuss books that they have read. I think that would be a great way to motivate students to read independently.
